The 955D-CP is a digital output Linear Displacement Transducer (LDT) in a low profile extruded aluminum package. This transducer uses Ametek's field proven magnetostrictive technology to give absolute position, repeatable to .006% of the programmable sensing distance. The Ametek 955 series has an auto tuning feature that allows it to sense a magnet other than the standard slide magnet and adjust its signal strength accordingly.
The 955D control pulse system generates digital outputs over an RS-422 line. The system looks for a one microsecond minimum input pulse, or start pulse, which is generated by the customer’s computer device. The 955D will then generate a stop pulse approximately one microsecond in duration. The time between the launch of the start pulse and the receipt of the stop pulse is proportional to the position of the magnet.

A complete system normally requires the following components:
- 955D transducer
- Magnet (purchased separately)
- Cable Assembly (purchased separately)
- Mounting feet (purchased separately). It is recommended to use one mounting foot at each end and one every three feet between.
